Other user focused processes | Tammy SachsTammy Sachs, co-author of, 'Creating User-Focused Web sites' has a solid understand of the way in which a web site should be built. That is by using a process that focuses on the end-user. In part one of this five stage process it goes straight into the need for focus groups and connecting the user with the whole process. Without question this is pendent on more time and more of a budget. However, this does not mean that it is any harder to implement as Tammy makes it very clear why there is a need for this process. Tammy says, "Over the years, we have conducted post-launch research for many organizations that launched their sites without conducting any marketing or usability research--a treacherous process known as "Launch and Learn." The outcome: costly revisions implemented after alienating and frustrating untold numbers of customers and prospects." Its clear then, that if you have the budget - and the online element is key to your business model - then you should review the costs to see if this process is possible. The title for stage two is just so clear it can make you laugh in a positive way, it's called, "If you want to know if the user can use your site, watch them, use it." It's this simplistic approach to incorporation (of the user) and the whole vibe of this process which makes it strong, pending resources and time frames. |
